UK Ceramics Industry Receives £120 Million
The UK ceramics industry has received a significant boost following the Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ announcement of a £120 million investment package for the sector.
Following tireless advocacy from Ceramics UK and industry leaders, this commitment represents a major step forward for ceramics manufacturers across Stoke-on-Trent and the wider UK industry. The announcement highlights the vital role ceramics manufacturing continues to play in the British economy, supporting innovation, exports, skilled jobs, and the future of UK manufacturing.
At Susan Rose China, we couldn’t be more pleased to hear this news.
The current climate for ceramics manufacturers has been incredibly challenging. Rising energy costs, increasing production pressures, and economic uncertainty have affected businesses throughout the industry, particularly SMEs and traditional manufacturers that are at the heart of Stoke-on-Trent’s heritage.
This investment package is an encouraging sign that the government recognises the importance of supporting British manufacturing and preserving the skills and craftsmanship that make the UK ceramics industry world-renowned.
While the finer details of the package are still to be confirmed, Ceramics UK will continue working closely with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) to ensure the support benefits businesses of all sizes across the sector.
For companies like Susan Rose China, this announcement offers renewed optimism for the future — helping manufacturers remain competitive, protect skilled jobs, invest in innovation, and continue producing high-quality British-made ceramics.
As a proud Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer, we remain committed to supporting British ceramics through our range of bone china gifts, keepsakes, school awards, and corporate orders.
We look forward to seeing how this investment helps strengthen and secure the future of our industry for generations to come.
Father's Day Legacy
Did you know that Father’s Day wasn’t always about greeting cards socks and ties?
In the mid-20th century, across the UK’s Working Men’s Clubs and Sports Clubs, Father’s Day was the pinnacle of the “Recognition Calendar.” It was the era of the “Father of the Year” award, a moment where communities didn’t just give a gift; they bestowed a legacy.

The Ritual of the China Tankard & Plate
In the 1950s and 60s, if you were a pillar of your local club, you didn’t receive a plastic trophy. You were presented with a Staffordshire Bone China tankard or a hand-gilded commemorative plate.
These weren’t just objects; they were “Presentation Pieces.” They were meant to be displayed on the mantelpiece for a lifetime, passed down as a mark of a man’s contribution to his community.
In a world of throwaway gadgets, we believe the “anchors” of our families and clubs deserve something fired in a kiln, not made in a factory.
This June 21st, let’s move away from “temporary and throwaway” and get back to “traditional and Legacy.”

Honouring History at RMAS
At Susan Rose China, we believe that exceptional work deserves more than just a passing mention, it deserves a permanent tribute.
We were recently privileged to create three bespoke, personalised mugs for Keith, Mick, and Steve from the Victoria Cross Trust. This was in recognition of their incredible recent project at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Mission: The VC Trust is dedicated to ensuring the graves of Victoria Cross recipients are maintained for generations to come. While at Sandhurst to restore the grave of Sergeant Major William Lendrim VC, the team’s dedication saw them clean a further 26 military graves.
The results (as seen in the "before and after" shots) are a testament to their tireless work in preserving our national heritage.

The Gift: As long-standing suppliers to RMAS, our "Sandhurst Mug Full of History" was the natural choice. We personalised each piece to create a lasting memento for the team, a small token of gratitude for a massive undertaking.
Whether it’s a corporate milestone, a charitable achievement, or a personal thank you, we specialise in turning these moments into heirloom-quality gifts.
Who is making an impact in your sector? Let’s help you celebrate them.
