Making a present for President Trump
Susan was asked to make a personalised gift for President Trump and the First Lady to mark their recent state visit to the UK and in particular to Chequers, the country house of the prime minister in Buckinghamshire.
Twelve months ago Susan designed a mug of history for Chequers which is decorated with words and images of historical events from Chequers' long history.

A special version of this mug was created by the workshop team in Longton

The Mugs were incribed on the bottom with ' In celebration of the visit to Chequers by President and Mrs Trump on 18th September 2025'
In addition President Trump was given a pair of Susan's English bone china baubles to make up a gift basket.
Both the mugs and baubles were manufactured by Longton firms (mugs were made by Topaz China Ltd with the baubles coming from Staffordshire Heritage China Ltd )
Speaking of the importance of her business relationship with Chequers, Susan Rose said: "I think it's absolutely fantastic, because it highlights the importance of buying British and the workmanship and craftmanship that goes on in Stoke.
"More people need to understand that Stoke is the most incredible place - the china that they make is outstanding and people need to think about buying British products - that's giving jobs to people in Stoke.
"The craftmanship has been passed down from generation to generation and we cannot afford to lose it."

Acquisition of Topaz China Ltd

In a move that signals a renewed sense of confidence in the heart of the Potteries, Susan Rose China Ltd has officially announced its acquisition of Longton-based Topaz China Ltd. This exciting development brings together two names synonymous with quality English bone china and bespoke craftsmanship, promising a bright future for the industry in Stoke-on-Trent.
Longton, one of the six towns that make up Stoke-on-Trent, has a rich and storied history as a global centre for pottery manufacturing. From grand factories to small, family-run workshops, the area's heritage is steeped in the artistry of clay and glaze. While the industry has faced its share of challenges over the years, this acquisition represents a powerful vote of confidence in the skills and traditions that have long defined this part of the world.
Topaz China, with its base at Adderley Works on Sutherland Road, has built a reputation for producing high-quality bone china articles, from household tableware to decorative pieces. The company has been a quiet but steady presence in the Longton pottery landscape, maintaining a commitment to the craft in an ever-changing market. The acquisition by Susan Rose China will ensure this legacy continues, with its expertise and production capabilities now folded into a larger, dynamic business.
Susan Rose China, founded by the talented artist of the same name, is celebrated for its personalised and hand-decorated bone china gifts. Known for designs that tell a story, whether through a "Mug Full of History" or a beautiful watercolour house painting, the company has cultivated a strong following of customers who appreciate unique and meaningful keepsakes. The business operates from Uttoxeter Road, also in Stoke-on-Trent, and this local connection makes the acquisition a natural and synergistic fit.
The coming together of these two companies is more than just a business transaction; it's a testament to the resilience of a local industry. By combining Topaz China's manufacturing prowess with Susan Rose China's creative vision and market-savvy, the new entity is well-positioned for growth. For the community of Longton and the wider Potteries, this means the preservation of jobs, the continuation of traditional skills, and the promise of a thriving future for British-made bone china. As the new chapter begins, all eyes will be on how this merger of talent and tradition shapes the next generation of pottery from the heart of Stoke-on-Trent.
