Celebrate the 150th anniversary of the boss’s birthday by collecting our limited edition Shackleton Mug Full of History
It was designed by Susan to celebrate Sir Ernest Shackleton and the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1916 attempt to make the first land crossing of the Antarctic.
The expedition never made landfall on Antarctica with his ship, The Endurance, becoming trapped in Weddell sea ice and eventually sinking.
The Expedition became famous for the rescue by Sir Ernest Shackleton of his men by sailing Endurance’s small boats ( Dudley Docker, James Caird and Stancomb Wills ) to Elephant Island where he left 22 men and 2 of the boats upturned for shelter.
He sailed on in the James Caird with 5 men to South Georgia taking 2 weeks to make landfall.
He finally returned to rescue the men left behind 3 months later abroad the Yelcho.
The failed expedition and subsequent rescue remains one of the greatest examples of leadership, determination and resilience to this day.

The mug is finished with hand-painted gold rims and gold flash on the handle.
Each mug is individually numbered on the base
All our china is handmade and handcrafted by one of our skilled china makers in the Longton region of Stoke -on-Trent.
The china is gift wrapped in an English made presentation box.
