Description
Poppies became a symbol of commemoration primarily because of their association with World War I and the famous poem “In Flanders Fields” by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.
During World War I, especially after the battles in Flanders (a region spanning parts of Belgium and France), the landscape was devastated. But despite the destruction, bright red poppies were among the first plants to bloom in the churned-up soil of the battlefields. Their resilience and vivid color stood out starkly against the backdrop of war and death.
Susan has designed this mug to help commemorate VE day 80 on 8th May 2025
All our china is hand-made and hand-decorated in the Longton district of Stoke-on-Trent.
The china is gift wrapped in an English made presentation box.
Susan Rose China is proud to support British manufacturing at its best.
