Decorated with Susan’s original hand drawn pencil images inspired by her love of the English countryside, these coasters are useful for mugs of tea, coffee or even a G&T!
The coasters are made from English bone china making them very strong and chip resistant. Each is hand-finished with a contemporary hand-painted black rim.
The first coasters were designed for decanters or wine bottles, so that they could be slid (or “coasted”) around the dinner table after the servants had retired and they were in common use after about 1760. Early coasters took the form of a shallow tray or dish made of wood, papier-mâché, silver or silver plate. Our English bone china coasters are the modern day equivalent!
Choose from a Hare, Fox, Stag, Squirrel or Salmon or why not have one of each and bring a taste of the English countryside from outside to inside your home and add a unique dash of style to your interior decorations whilst protecting your table from damage?
These smart, contemporary, fun English bone china coasters make a great talking point at dinner parties, summer BBQ’s or wherever you are serving beer, ice tea, coffee or other drinks.
A perfect idea for when you are looking for a house-warming gift or simply to say “thank you” for a lovely time! We also have the perfect English bone china tankard mug to fit in this coaster sporting the same pencil drawings – a perfect addition to complement the chosen coaster!
These traditional coasters are hand-made and hand-decorated by one of our skilled china makers in the Longton district of Stoke-on-Trent – a region that has a long tradition of bone china production. We at Susan Rose China are proud to support British manufacturing at its finest.
