Celebrate the polar exploits of Sir Ernest Shackleton by purchasing an English bone china mug decorated with images from his life and adventures during The Imperial Trans Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1916.
This expedition, depicted on this English bone china mug and designed in the style of our “Mug full of History”, is decorated with Susan’s hand-drawn images which are weaved into the hand-drawn text to give the humble mug a new contemporary twist!
Susan is a great lover of all things polar and we were delighted when we first introduced this mug to our collection that The Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI) gave us so much insight into Shackleton’s expedition that she really felt as though the key moments were all captured in the essence of this design. They were so pleased wit the outcome that they decided to stock it in their museum shop.
Susan has written a short blog describing the creation of the mug – to read this simply click on the link below:
If you love your Polar heroes, why not treat yourself or any of your friends to both this and its companion “Mug full of History” celebrating the exploits of Captain Robert Falcon Scott?
We have also taken Susan’s love of all things polar to another level by putting some designs featuring the various animals and birds to be found at these extreme ends of the earth from penguins to polar bears – all of which can be seen by visiting our polar page.
This traditional English bone china tankard mug is hand-made and hand-decorated by one of our skilled china makers in the Longton district of Stoke-on-Trent – a region that has a long tradition of bone china production. We at Susan Rose China are proud to support British manufacturing at its finest.
