Description

Susan has always been interested in the history of Captain Robert Falcon Scott and his ill fated race with Roald Amundsen to reach the South Pole in 1910-1913.

Captain Scott was beaten by 1 month and died on the return leg of his trip along with his companions.

His last camp was just 11 miles from ‘One Ton Depot’ which held a large cache of food and fuel.

This trip ultimately led to the establishment of the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI) in Cambridge in 1920.

The design includes images of Scott and his expedition taken from Susan’s original hand drawings of Scott’s ship, the Terra Nova and his revolutionary motor sledges.

The mug is finished with hand-painted contemporary black rims.

The mug can be personalised with a name on the inside rim.

All our china is handmade and handcrafted by one of our skilled china makers in the Longton region of Stoke -on-Trent.

The china is gift wrapped in an English made presentation box.

Susan Rose China is proud to support British manufacturing at its finest.
