Inspired by a recent trip to the Arctic, Susan has designed an Arctic inspired mug featuring Polar bears, Svalbard Reindeer and Arctic Foxes.
Information about the Polar bears and Svalbard Reindeer can be seen by following the links given on our other products, such as our personalised mugs, but Susan has only included the image of the Arctic Fox on this particular mug.
The Arctic fox is primarily a carnivore that lives inland, away from the coasts. They are dependent on the presence of smaller animals to survive e.g. lemmings which leaves the Arctic or Snow Fox vulnerable when these creatures are low in numbers. The Arctic fox was impacted tremendously by the fur trade because of its extremely high quality pelt and although it is still hunted now for its fur, particularly by the native populations, this is now less of a problem.
Interesting reading on polar subjects can also be found in Susan’s blogs on Frank Wild and Shackleton and The Scott Polar Research Institute.
If you or someone you know is mad keen on these extreme regions of the earth, then do take a look at some of the other items in our Polar Range – all made of English bone china and all featuring one of Susan’s hand-painted drawings.
All our animal polar designs decorate our new English bone china drum mug which are hand-made and hand-decorated by one of our skilled china makers in the Longton district of Stoke-on-Trent – a region that has a long tradition of bone china production. We at Susan Rose China are proud to support British manufacturing at its finest.
Each mug is individually gift wrapped clearly showing the English origins of the product.
